Sorbitrate 5 Tablet is used to prevent chest pain (angina attacks) by relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily to the heart. Sorbitrate 5 Tablet must be taken in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. It is usually taken as needed, either 5 to 10 minutes before physical activities or at the first sign of angina. You should take the medicine as it is prescribed for you and keep taking it even if you feel well. If you stop taking it suddenly, your risk of an angina attack will increase. Lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and not smoking may help this drug work better.
Sorbitrate 5 Tablet is a nitrate. It works by relaxing the blood vessels which decreases the oxygen demand of the heart and reduces its workload thereby preventing/treating attacks of angina (chest pain).
Place the tablet under the tongue or between the cheek and gum and let it dissolve. Do not chew, crush, or swallow the tablet. Sorbitrate 5 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Alcohol
Consuming alcohol while taking Sorbitrate 5 Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Breastfeed
Sorbitrate 5 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pregnancy
Sorbitrate 5 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
