Ricosprin 10 Tablet is a medicine known as an anticoagulant or blood thinner. It helps prevent and treat blood clots. It is used to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack. Ricosprin 10 Tablet is commonly used in patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) to prevent clot formation. It also reduces the risk of getting clots in people who have undergone knee or hip replacement surgeries. It may be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time each day for maximum benefits. You may need to take this medicine for many years even for life in some cases. Do not stop taking it or change the dose without guidance from your doctor. It could quickly put you more at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel). You can reduce your risk of having a blood clot by making changes to your lifestyle such as not smoking, eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and losing weight if you need to.
Ricosprin 10 Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC). It works by stopping a clotting factor called factor Xa from working. This helps prevent the formation of blood clots in the body.
What are the side effects of Ricosprin 10 Tablet?
The most common side effects of Ricosprin 10 Tablet include bleeding that may be long or excessive, shortness of breath (which could indicate bleeding), fatigue, weakness, paleness, dizziness, headache, and unexplained swelling. Other side effects can range from severe skin and allergic reactions, bruising, coughing up blood, bleeding from the skin or under the skin, and swelling in the limbs. In some cases, Ricosprin 10 Tablet may cause a decrease in platelets, and may also increase bilirubin levels. Some individuals may experience fainting episodes, a faster heartbeat, and dry mouth.
Is Ricosprin 10 Tablet a blood thinner?
Yes, Ricosprin 10 Tablet is a blood thinner. It works by preventing blood from clotting within the blood vessels. This medication helps prevent blood clots from forming in the veins of your legs and in your lungs.
Is Ricosprin 10 Tablet dangerous?
Ricosprin 10 Tablet is generally safe for most people, but it can increase bleeding risk due to its effect on blood clotting. It's important to note that this medication may cause serious bleeding and requires urgent medical attention if you experience it. This risk may be higher in individuals who are taking other blood-thinning medications concurrently. If you experience any bleeding, contact your doctor immediately.
What foods should you avoid if you are on blood thinners?
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should not be consumed while taking Ricosprin 10 Tablet. These fruits contain compounds that slow down the body's metabolism of Ricosprin 10 Tablet, leading to increased bleeding activity. It is important to note that if you are using a different blood thinner, such as warfarin, certain foods that increase vitamin K activity or blood clotting may need to be avoided. Foods like spinach, brussel sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, asparagus, and green tea should be consumed cautiously with blood thinners.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ricosprin 10 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
