Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet is used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) in men. It works by shrinking the prostate and relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate. Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet is a combination of two medicines that work in different ways to treat men with an enlarged prostate gland. It helps to relieve symptoms such as difficulty urinating or needing to go to the toilet more often. It is not used to prevent prostate cancer.
Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Silodosin and Dutasteride, which relieves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Silodosin is an alpha-blocker that works by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so as to allow easy passage of urine. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor which helps in shrinking the prostate gland by decreasing the level of the hormone which helps the prostate gland grow.
Is Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet effective?
Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.
What is benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)?
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is also known as prostate gland enlargement. It is a common condition in older men. BPH may cause symptoms like frequent or urgent need to urinate, increased frequency of urination at night (nocturia) and inability to completely empty the bladder.
Can the use of Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet cause dizziness?
Yes, the use of Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. These symptoms could be due to the presence of silodosin in the medicine. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.
Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet?
The use of Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet is considered to be harmful in patients who are allergic to any active or inactive ingredients of the medicine. Caution is advised in patients with underlying kidney or liver disease. If not sure, consult your doctor.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet should be taken with or after food.
- Take it approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day.
- May cause dizziness or blurring of vision. Do not drive until you know how it affects you.
- To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
- Do not stop taking unless your doctor tells you to.
- Inform your doctor about any scheduled eye surgery (especially for cataract or glaucoma).
- It may cause sexual side effects such as difficulty achieving/maintaining erection or decreased semen production.
- Do not donate blood for 6 months after your last dose.

Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.
Pregnancy
Rapilif-D 8/0.5 Tablet is highly unsafe during pregnancy. It can cause serious harm to the unborn baby. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
