Omever 20mg Capsule is a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach, used in the treatment of acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Omever 20mg Capsule is best taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dose will depend on your underlying condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. You can increase the efficiency of the treatment by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding caffeinated drinks (like tea and coffee) and spicy or fatty foods.
Omever 20mg Capsule is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which provide relief from symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
What happens when Omever 20mg Capsule is taken with domperidone?
Omever 20mg Capsule can be safely taken with domperidone as no harmful effects have been reported clinically. The combination of these two medicines works effectively in treating reflux esophagitis associated with acidity, heartburn, intestinal and stomach ulcers by decreasing acid production in the stomach and increasing gut motility.
What should I know before taking Omever 20mg Capsule?
You should not take it if you are taking a medicine containing atazanavir and nelfinavir (used for HIV infection). Inform your doctor about any liver problems, persistent diarrhea or vomiting, black stools (blood-stained stools), unusual weight loss, trouble swallowing, stomach pain or indigestion. Tell your doctor about all the other medicines you are taking because they may affect, or be affected by, this medicine. Also, inform your doctor if you have or ever had an allergic skin reaction with this medicine. It should not be given to children who are less than 1 year of age or whose body weight is less than 10 kgs. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
Can Omever 20mg Capsule cause diarrhea?
Yes, it may cause diarrhea as a side effect in some people. If you experience persistent watery stools that do not go away, along with stomach cramps and fever, get medical help immediately.
How long can I take Omever 20mg Capsule for?
Take it for as long as advised by your doctor. The duration may vary depending on your condition. Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor.
Can Omever 20mg Capsule cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?
It can cause osteoporosis (thinning of bones) as it decreases the calcium absorption leading to calcium deficiency. This leads to an increased risk of bone fractures on long-term use, like hip, wrist or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids before starting your therapy.
What are the potential long term side effects of Omever 20mg Capsule?
Certain long term side effects may be seen if used for more than 3 months, including low magnesium levels in your blood which may make you feel tired, confused, dizzy, shaky, or have muscle twitches. If the use is further prolonged, you may also have an increased risk of bone fractures (due to decreased calcium levels in the blood), especially hip, wrist, or spine, stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency.
Can Omever 20mg Capsule cause vitamin deficiencies?
It may cause vitamin B12 and vitamin C deficiency. You may need to take vitamin B12 supplements along with it, but there is no recommendation for vitamin C supplementation due to unclear clinical significance of decreased levels.
Can patients with cardiac disease use Omever 20mg Capsule?
Yes, patients with cardiac disease can take this medicine as prescribed by the doctor. However, interactions may occur with certain drugs used by a patient with an underlying cardiac disease, requiring close monitoring by a doctor.

- Long-term use of Omever 20mg Capsule can cause weak bones and a deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not stop taking medication without talking to your doctor.
- Consult your doctor right away if you develop decreased urination, edema (swelling due to fluid retention), lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, and rash or fever. These could be signs of a kidney problem.
Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Omever 20mg Capsule.
Breastfeed
Omever 20mg Capsule is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Omever 20mg Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
