Levoviz-M Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes in children. Levoviz-M Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Levoviz-M Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
My child has a persistent cough along with allergic symptoms. Can I give cough and allergy medicine together?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medicines because they usually both contain similar ingredients. Mixing these medications may result in double dosing of the active ingredients, potentially leading to serious side effects. Please consult your child's doctor for the appropriate treatment.
Can I decrease the dose of Levoviz-M Syrup by myself if my child starts to feel better?
No, adhere to the dose as prescribed by your child’s doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose by yourself as it can impact your child’s health. While increasing the dose may cause unwanted effects like sedation and depression, decreasing the dose or stopping it suddenly can result in rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Levoviz-M Syrup be stored?
Levoviz-M Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Ensure that all medications are kept out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental intake.
Can Levoviz-M Syrup make my child sleepy?
Levoviz-M Syrup may cause mild drowsiness in children, which can lead to sleepiness. However, do not use the medicine to induce sleep. Forced sleep could mask any underlying sleep disorder like insomnia.
My child is an athlete and has to participate in a sports event in the next two days. Can I start the course of Levoviz-M Syrup?
No, do not begin Levoviz-M Syrup without first consulting your child’s doctor. Moreover, Levoviz-M Syrup can hinder your child’s performance due to potential side effects like mild sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness. It is crucial to consult the doctor before starting this medicine.
Can I stop the medicine by myself?
No, all symptoms may reappear upon sudden withdrawal of Levoviz-M Syrup, usually if taken for a long time. It is advised to discontinue the medicine gradually under the guidance of your child’s doctor.
My child is suffering from a mood disorder. Is it safe to give Levoviz-M Syrup to my child?
Some studies suggest that Levoviz-M Syrup can trigger mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and difficulty controlling body movements. Before giving any medicine to your child, consult with your child’s doctor for proper guidance.
Can I use Levoviz-M Syrup for treating acute asthma attacks in my child?
Levoviz-M Syrup is intended for preventing asthma attacks. It should not be used to treat an existing attack. For an active attack, utilize your child's reliever medication.
Levoviz-M Syrup is a medication that should be used as directed by a doctor. It is important to follow the dosage instructions carefully and not to stop taking the medication without consulting a doctor.
