Levoler M Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy, asthma, and skin allergies in children. Levoler M Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Levoler M Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist. It works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
My child has a persistent cough along with allergic symptoms. Can I give cough and allergy medicines together?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medications because they typically contain similar ingredients. Mixing these can result in double dosing of active ingredients, potentially causing serious side effects.
Can I decrease the dose of Levoler M Syrup by myself if my child starts to feel better?
No, adhere to the dose as prescribed by your child's doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose by yourself, as this could negatively affect your child’s health. While increasing the dose may cause unwanted side effects like sedation and depression, decreasing the dose abruptly can lead to rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Levoler M Syrup be stored?
Levoler M Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Also, keep all medications out of reach and sight of children to avoid accidental intake.
Can Levoler M Syrup make my child sleepy?
Levoler M Syrup can cause mild drowsiness which may make your child sleepy. However, it should not be given for inducing sleep. Forced sleep could mask any underlying sleep disorder like insomnia.
My child is an athlete and has to participate in a sports event in the next two days. Can I start the course of Levoler M Syrup?
No, do not start Levoler M Syrup without speaking to your child’s doctor first. Moreover, Levoler M Syrup can negatively affect performance as it may cause mild sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness. It's best to consult the doctor first.
Can I stop the medicine by myself?
No, all symptoms might reappear abruptly if you suddenly discontinue Levoler M Syrup, usually after long-term use. It is recommended to gradually stop this medication under your child’s doctor's guidance.
My child is suffering from a mood disorder. Is it safe to give Levoler M Syrup to my child?
Some studies show that Levoler M Syrup may trigger mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and trouble controlling body movements. Consult your child's doctor before giving any medication.
Can I use Levoler M Syrup for treating acute asthma attacks in my child?
Levoler M Syrup should only be used to prevent asthma attacks and not as a treatment for active attacks that are already happening. Use your child’s reliever medication to help with an attack that has already started.
Consult your child's doctor for proper dosage and usage instructions.
