Helcet Syrup is a medication used to treat a wide range of symptoms caused by allergic conditions such as hay fever, urticaria, conjunctivitis, and common cold. Helcet Syrup is given to children to treat a wide range of symptoms caused due to allergic conditions like hay fever, urticaria (hives), conjunctivitis (red, itchy eye), and common cold. These symptoms may include watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and itching.
Helcet Syrup belongs to a class of medicines called antihistamines. It blocks the natural chemical substance (histamine) produced in the body during an allergic state. It also subsides (lowers) your child’s immune system’s response to these conditions thereby reducing the symptoms.
My child is restless and unable to sleep properly at night. Can I give Helcet Syrup? Why?
No, although this medicine causes drowsiness as a side effect, it should not be given to induce sleep in children. It's essential to consult your child's doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment of sleep problems. These may indicate an underlying condition that requires specific medical care.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Helcet Syrup?
Helcet Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. It's crucial to inform your child's doctor about all medications they are currently taking before starting Helcet Syrup. Your child's doctor can advise you on safe combinations and ensure optimal medication usage.
How much Helcet Syrup should I give to my child?
Helcet Syrup dosage must be determined by your child's doctor based on their individual needs, considering factors like body weight and age. Never exceed the prescribed dose or adjust it without consulting a healthcare professional as this can worsen your child's condition.
What if I give too much of Helcet Syrup by mistake?
While Helcet Syrup is generally safe for children, exceeding recommended dosages can lead to severe side effects, such as seizures, hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, irritability, slow breathing, coma. It's crucial to seek immediate medical attention in such cases.
How should Helcet Syrup be stored?
Store Helcet Syrup at room temperature in a dry location away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Always keep medicines out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
When do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
It's always advisable to consult your child's doctor at all times, especially regarding any doubts or changes. However, if you notice any signs of serious side effects, immediately contact your child's doctor: Allergic reactions (facial swelling, trouble breathing), signs of liver problems (dark-colored urine, yellow eyes or skin), excessive sleepiness, rapid heartbeat, hallucinations, feeling confused or hyperactive, trouble passing urine, irritability, and vision changes.
Try giving the medicines at the same time each day to help you remember. Your child may feel sleepy or dizzy after each dose of Helcet Syrup. If this happens, make your child sit or lie down and ask them to be careful while performing tasks that require mental focus.
