Duokast-Kid Syrup is a medication used to treat various symptoms caused by allergic conditions in children, such as hay fever, urticaria, conjunctivitis, and common cold. Duokast-Kid Syrup is given to children to treat a wide range of symptoms caused due to allergic conditions like hay fever, urticaria (hives), conjunctivitis (red, itchy eye), and common cold. These symptoms may include watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and itching.
Duokast-Kid Syrup belongs to a class of medicines called antihistamines. It blocks the natural chemical substance (histamine) produced in the body during an allergic state. It also subsides (lowers) your child’s immune system’s response to these conditions thereby reducing the symptoms.
My child is restless and unable to sleep properly at night. Can I give Duokast-Kid Syrup?
No, while Duokast-Kid Syrup may cause drowsiness as a side effect, it should not be used to induce sleep in children. Please consult your child's doctor if your child experiences difficulties sleeping, as this could potentially indicate an underlying condition.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Duokast-Kid Syrup?
It is essential to inform your child's doctor about all medications or substances your child is currently taking before starting Duokast-Kid Syrup. It is also crucial to seek guidance from your child's doctor regarding any additional medicine you plan to give them.
How much Duokast-Kid Syrup should I give to my child?
The dosage of Duokast-Kid Syrup must be prescribed by your child’s physician. This dosage is calculated based on your child's body weight and age, and it is vital not to exceed or decrease the dose without consulting their doctor.
What if I give too much of Duokast-Kid Syrup by mistake?
Though Duokast-Kid Syrup is considered relatively safe for children, exceeding the prescribed dosage may lead to serious side effects such as seizures, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, irritability, slow breathing, and coma.
How should Duokast-Kid Syrup be stored?
Store Duokast-Kid Syrup at room temperature in a dry place away from direct sunlight or heat. Keep all medications out of the reach and sight of children to avoid any accidental intake.
When do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Always consult your child's doctor if you have any concerns. However, immediate medical attention should be sought if your child experiences any of the following serious side effects: Allergic reactions (e.g., facial swelling, difficulty breathing), signs of liver problems (e.g., dark urine, yellow eyes or skin), excessive sleepiness, rapid heartbeat, hallucinations, feeling confused or hyperactive, trouble passing urine, irritability, and vision changes.
Try giving the medicines at the same time each day to help you remember. Your child may feel sleepy or dizzy after each dose of Duokast-Kid Syrup. If this happens, make your child sit or lie down and ask them to be careful while performing tasks that require mental focus.
