Long-term use of Deltone Capsule MR can lead to osteoporosis (thinning of bones) due to decreased calcium absorption, resulting in increased risk of bone fractures, such as hip, wrist, or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or are taking corticosteroids before starting therapy. Consult your doctor on ways to prevent this. Your doctor may advise calcium or vitamin D supplements to reduce the risk.
What side effects can I expect from taking Deltone Capsule MR?
Deltone Capsule MR may cause diarrhea as a side effect in some people. If you experience persistent watery stools, stomach cramps, and fever, seek medical help immediately. These symptoms are likely due to C. difficile overgrowth and Clostridium difficile–associated diarrhea (CDAD).
What are the risks of long-term use of Deltone Capsule MR regarding mineral levels?
Long-term use of Deltone Capsule MR can lower magnesium levels in patients taking multiple daily doses for a year or longer (at least 3 months). Regularly check your magnesium levels and inform your doctor if you experience symptoms like seizures, dizziness, abnormal heartbeat, muscle weakness, spasms, cramps, or muscle aches.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Deltone Capsule MR is to be taken empty stomach.
