Celfi-O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections in children and adolescents. Celfi-O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Celfi-O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
What if I give too much of Celfi-O Dry Syrup by mistake?
Giving an extra dose of Celfi-O Dry Syrup is unlikely to cause harm. However, you should be vigilant because large doses may lead to unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition. If you think you have given too much of Celfi-O Dry Syrup to your child, speak to a doctor immediately.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Celfi-O Dry Syrup?
Serious side effects of this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Celfi-O Dry Syrup?

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Celfi-O Dry Syrup?

This is because there’s a possibility that Celfi-O Dry Syrup could worsen these conditions and lead to complications.
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
- Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
- Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Celfi-O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
- Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
- Only give Celfi-O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
- Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
