Zyvac Tcv-PFS Vaccine is an active immunizing agent used to prevent typhoid fever caused by certain bacteria called S. Typhi. Zyvac Tcv-PFS Vaccine is an active immunizing agent given to prevent typhoid fever caused by certain bacteria called S. Typhi. It is usually administered at least 2 weeks prior to expected exposure to S. Typhi.
Zyvac Tcv-PFS Vaccine is a vaccine which helps develop immunity by initiating a mild infection. This type of infection does not cause illness but stimulates the body's immune system to produce antibodies (proteins) to protect against any future infections.
Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.
- Used for prevention of typhoid
- It should be given at least 2 weeks before protection against typhoid fever is required
- Take it in addition to strict food, water and personal hygiene measures to avoid the disease
- Usually given by injection into the muscle of the upper arm or leg
- Protection lasts for around 3 years, booster injection is required every 3 years to provide continued immunity
