It reduces prostaglandin production, providing pain relief. Ugesic 20 mg Tablet is used to relieve symptoms like pain, inflammation, and joint stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.
Ugesic 20 mg Tablet contains Piroxicam, which works by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger in the body, known as cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, that produce another chemical, prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are produced at injury sites and cause pain and swelling. By blocking the effect of COX enzymes, fewer prostaglandins are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site.

Does Ugesic 20 mg Tablet cause diarrhoea?
Diarrhoea might be a side effect of Ugesic 20 mg Tablet. Drink lots of fluids and eat non-spicy food if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or experience severe diarrhoea, consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
Is it safe to take Ugesic 20 mg Tablet for longer durations?
Do not take Ugesic 20 mg Tablet for longer durations or high doses as it may cause unpleasant side effects. Do not exceed the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
I have heart problems. Can I take Ugesic 20 mg Tablet?
Ugesic 20 mg Tablet may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Do not use Ugesic 20 mg Tablet within 1 week before or after bypass surgery. Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart disease or other heart problems.
Ugesic 20 mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. However, taking it after food may help reduce stomach upset. It is usually taken 1-2 times daily at the same time each day or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, break, or open the medication.
Alcohol
Unsafe: Alcohol consumption while taking Ugesic 20 mg Tablet is unsafe as it may increase drowsiness and the risk of stomach bleeding.
Breastfeed
Unsafe: Ugesic 20 mg Tablet can pass into breast milk. Avoid breastfeeding while taking this medicine.
Pregnancy
Caution: Avoid taking Ugesic 20 mg Tablet if you are pregnant unless prescribed by the doctor.
