I am taking valproic acid for seizures. Will Topiral 100mg Tablet interfere with the effectiveness of valproic acid? Can these medications be taken together?
Topiral 100mg Tablet does not interfere with the effectiveness of valproic acid. However, it may increase the risk of getting excess levels of ammonia in the blood (hyperammonemia). Increased levels of ammonia in the blood can pose a serious risk and lead to difficulty thinking, remembering information, solving problems, decreased alertness, and feelings of extreme tiredness or sleepiness. Please immediately report any symptoms like these to your doctor. It is important to note that Topiral 100mg Tablet can cause hyperammonemia by itself in rare cases.
Can Topiral 100mg Tablet be used in children?
Yes, Topiral 100mg Tablet is prescribed for seizures in children older than 2 years. However, it's not recommended to use this medication for migraines in children.
