Tolvanix 15mg Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of low levels of sodium in the blood. Tolvanix 15mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. It should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take them. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not stop taking the medicine even if you feel better unless the doctor tells you so.
Tolvanix 15mg Tablet is a vasopressin antagonist. It works by blocking the effect of the hormone vasopressin in the body. This increases urine production, reduces the amount of water in the blood and raises the blood sodium level.
What is the most important information I need to be aware of while taking Tolvanix 15mg Tablet?
Tolvanix 15mg Tablet may increase sodium levels in your blood too quickly, which could lead to osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS). This condition can cause serious nerve damage, including coma. Symptoms of ODS include difficulty speaking, swallowing problems, food or liquid getting stuck while swallowing, drowsiness, confusion, mood changes, seizures, difficulty controlling body movements, and muscle weakness in arms and legs. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
For how long do I need to take Tolvanix 15mg Tablet?
Tolvanix 15mg Tablet is used for correcting sodium levels in the blood. The duration of treatment depends on your doctor's prescription. Tolvanix 15mg Tablet should not be taken for more than 30 days unless directed by your doctor. After normalization of sodium levels, it can be discontinued after consulting with your doctor.
Does Tolvanix 15mg Tablet affect the sugar levels in blood?
Yes, Tolvanix 15mg Tablet may increase blood sugar levels. Patients with diabetes mellitus should exercise extra caution when taking this medication and monitor their blood sugar regularly.
Who should not take Tolvanix 15mg Tablet?
Avoid taking Tolvanix 15mg Tablet if you have low sodium levels, cannot replace fluids by drinking or if you experience thirst, dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. If you are unable to tell when thirsty, dizzy or feeling faint or if your kidneys are not working properly due to excessive fluid loss, do not take Tolvanix 15mg Tablet. You should also avoid this medication if you are allergic to Tolvanix 15mg Tablet or taking certain medications that interact with it.
Can I have grapefruit juice while taking Tolvanix 15mg Tablet?
No, you should not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice while on Tolvanix 15mg Tablet. Grapefruit or grapefruit juice may increase the levels of Tolvanix 15mg Tablet in your blood, leading to a rapid rise in sodium.
What will happen if I take excess of Tolvanix 15mg Tablet?
If you accidentally take too much Tolvaptan, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of overdose may include excessive thirst, dry and flaky skin, sunken eyes, rapid heartbeat, rapid and shallow breathing, very low blood pressure, increased urination frequency, and fainting.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tolvanix 15mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Alcohol

Breastfeed
