Tacmed Ointment is used to treat eczema (atopic dermatitis) by suppressing the activity of certain immune cells that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) of the skin. Tacmed Ointment is used for external use to treat eczema (atopic dermatitis). It should be used 2-4 times a day on the affected area or as suggested by the doctor. It should be applied slowly and evenly to the skin until it is rubbed in. You should not use it too often and you should not cover the treated area with a bandage or plaster. You must inform your doctor if there’s no improvement even after two weeks of treatment or if the skin gets worse.
Tacmed Ointment is an immunosuppressant. It works by suppressing the activity of certain immune cells that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) of the skin. This relieves itching and improves rashes in atopic dermatitis.
What is Tacmed Ointment used for?
Tacmed Ointment is a medication specifically designed to target and modulate the immune system, helping to reduce its abnormal activity. It is primarily used to treat moderate to severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) in adults who have not responded well to steroid treatments or experienced side effects from using them.
What are the potential side effects of Tacmed Ointment?
Common side effects of Tacmed Ointment may include skin irritation, burning sensations, and itchiness at the application site. These reactions are usually mild to moderate in severity and typically resolve within one week of starting treatment. Additionally, users may experience redness, warmth, pain, altered sensation, or rash at the application site. It also increases the risk of getting inflamed or infected hair follicles, cold sores, acne, and generalized herpes simplex infections.
Is Tacmed Ointment safe to use?
Compared to other immune-suppressing medications, Tacmed Ointment has been found to be a relatively safe and effective short-term treatment for atopic dermatitis. Its minimal absorption into the bloodstream reduces the risk of systemic side effects, making it a safer option compared to oral treatments.
Does Tacmed Ointment have abuse potential?
No, Tacmed Ointment does not have any potential for abuse and is therefore not classified as a controlled substance. Controlled substances have a higher risk of misuse and require special authorization and supervision.
Is there an increased risk of cancer associated with the long-term use of Tacmed Ointment?
While rare, some studies have suggested that long-term use of Tacmed Ointment may be linked to an increased risk of developing lymph node tumors (lymphoma) or skin cancer. If you must use Tacmed Ointment for more than 6 weeks or experience worsening symptoms during treatment, consult your doctor.
Is Tacmed Ointment a steroid?
No, Tacmed Ointment is not a steroid medication. It works by modulating the immune system and is used to treat eczema (atopic dermatitis), with an advantage of not causing skin thinning or other steroid-related side effects.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.
