Sazocet M Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy, asthma, and skin allergies in children. Sazocet M Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Sazocet M Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
My child has a persistent cough along with allergic symptoms. Can I give cough and allergy medicine together?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medicines because they usually both contain similar ingredients. Mixing these medications may lead to overdosing of the active substances, potentially causing serious side effects.
Can I decrease the dose of Sazocet M Syrup by myself if my child starts to feel better?
No, adhere to the dosage as prescribed by your child's doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose by yourself; this can impact your child's health. While increasing the dose may cause unwanted effects such as sedation and depression, decreasing the dose or stopping it abruptly could lead to a rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Sazocet M Syrup be stored?
Sazocet M Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Ensure that all medications are kept out of the reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
Can Sazocet M Syrup make my child sleepy?
Sazocet M Syrup can cause mild drowsiness, which could make your child feel sleepy. However, never use this medicine to induce sleep. Forced sleep could mask underlying sleep disorders such as insomnia.
My child is an athlete and has to participate in a sports event in the next two days. Can I start the course of Sazocet M Syrup?
No, do not begin Sazocet M Syrup without speaking to your child's doctor. Additionally, Sazocet M Syrup can impair your child's performance as it might cause mild sedation, dizziness, and drowsiness. Therefore, consult with their doctor first.
Can I stop the medicine by myself?
No, all symptoms may reappear suddenly if taken for a long time; this usually happens when the medication is abruptly stopped. It's best to discontinue the medicine gradually under your child's doctor’s guidance.
My child is suffering from a mood disorder. Is it safe to give Sazocet M Syrup to my child?
Some studies suggest that Sazocet M Syrup may cause mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and trouble controlling body movements. Therefore, consult your child's doctor before giving any medication.
Can I use Sazocet M Syrup for treating acute asthma attacks in my child?
Sazocet M Syrup is only intended to prevent asthma attacks and should not be used for stopping an attack that has already started. Use your child's reliever medication to assist with the attack that has already begun.
Sazocet M Syrup is a medication that should be used as directed by a doctor. It is important to follow the dosage instructions carefully and not to stop taking the medication without consulting a doctor.
