Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet is a medicine known as an anticoagulant or blood thinner. It helps prevent and treat blood clots. It is used to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack. Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet is commonly used in patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) to prevent clot formation. It also reduces the risk of getting clots in people who have undergone knee or hip replacement surgeries. It may be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time each day for maximum benefits. You may need to take this medicine for many years even for life in some cases. Do not stop taking it or change the dose without guidance from your doctor. It could quickly put you more at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel). You can reduce your risk of having a blood clot by making changes to your lifestyle such as not smoking, eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and losing weight if you need to.
Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC). It works by stopping a clotting factor called factor Xa from working. This helps prevent the formation of blood clots in the body.
What are the side effects of Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet?
Common side effects of Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet include prolonged or excessive bleeding, shortness of breath (which could be a sign of bleeding), weakness, fatigue, paleness, dizziness, headache, and unexplained swelling. Other side effects can be severe skin and allergic reactions, bruising, coughing up blood, bleeding from the skin or under the skin, and swelling and pain in the limbs. Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet may also increase bilirubin levels and decrease platelet count. Some people may experience fainting episodes, increased heart rate, and dry mouth. If you notice any side effects, consult your doctor immediately.
Is Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet a blood thinner?
Yes, Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet is a blood thinner. It works by preventing the formation of blood clots within blood vessels and also prevents the recurring blood clots in the blood vessels. It may be prescribed for treating blood clots in the legs' veins and pulmonary arteries.
Is Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet dangerous?
Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet can have significant benefits, but it can increase bleeding risk compared to normal. This increased bleeding risk is due to its effect on blood clotting. Sometimes this medication can lead to serious bleeding that requires urgent medical attention. The risk of increased bleeding may be higher when Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet is used in combination with other medications for blood thinning.
What foods should you avoid if you are on blood thinners?
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be avoided while taking Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet. Grapefruits contain compounds that slow down the metabolism of Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet, potentially increasing bleeding risk. In contrast, consuming foods rich in vitamin K or foods that increase blood clotting activity can negatively interact with some blood thinners (such as warfarin). Foods containing spinach, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, asparagus and green tea are examples of these types of items.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rivatroy 2.5 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
