Rivaright 10mg Tablet is a medicine known as an anticoagulant or blood thinner. It helps prevent and treat blood clots. It is used to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack. Rivaright 10mg Tablet is commonly used in patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) to prevent clot formation. It also reduces the risk of getting clots in people who have undergone knee or hip replacement surgeries. It may be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time each day for maximum benefits. You may need to take this medicine for many years even for life in some cases. Do not stop taking it or change the dose without guidance from your doctor. It could quickly put you more at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel). You can reduce your risk of having a blood clot by making changes to your lifestyle such as not smoking, eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and losing weight if you need to.
Rivaright 10mg Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC). It works by stopping a clotting factor called factor Xa from working. This helps prevent the formation of blood clots in the body.
What are the potential side effects of Rivaright 10mg Tablet?
Common side effects of Rivaright 10mg Tablet may include prolonged or excessive bleeding, shortness of breath (which might indicate bleeding), extreme weakness, tiredness, paleness, dizziness, and headache. Other possible side effects can be severe skin reactions, allergic responses, bruising, coughing up blood, bleeding from the skin or under the skin, and swelling in the limbs. Rivaright 10mg Tablet may also increase bilirubin levels and reduce platelet counts. Some people might experience fainting spells, faster heartbeat, and dry mouth. If any side effects occur, contact your doctor immediately.
Is Rivaright 10mg Tablet a blood thinner?
Yes, Rivaright 10mg Tablet is a blood thinner. It works by preventing blood from clotting within blood vessels, and it also prevents the re-occurrence of blood clots within those same blood vessels. It may be prescribed to treat blood clots in the veins of the legs and in the blood vessels of the lungs.
Is Rivaright 10mg Tablet dangerous?
Rivaright 10mg Tablet has numerous benefits, but it increases bleeding risk by reducing clotting ability. This increased bleeding risk can be significant and potentially dangerous. It may also increase the chance of serious bleeding. Additionally, this risk could be higher when taking Rivaright 10mg Tablet alongside other blood thinning medications. If you experience even minor bleeding, contact your doctor promptly.
What foods should I avoid if I am on blood thinners?
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be avoided when taking Rivaright 10mg Tablet because they contain compounds that slow down the metabolism of Rivaright 10mg Tablet, increasing bleeding risk. For other blood thinner medications like Warfarin, you should avoid foods that increase vitamin K activity or increase blood clotting, such as spinach, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, asparagus, and green tea. However, these food items are not restricted when taking Rivaright 10mg Tablet.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rivaright 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
