Rivalet 10mg Tablet is an anticoagulant used to prevent and treat blood clots, reducing the risk of stroke and heart attack. Rivalet 10mg Tablet is commonly used in patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) to prevent clot formation. It also reduces the risk of getting clots in people who have undergone knee or hip replacement surgeries. It may be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time each day for maximum benefits. You may need to take this medicine for many years, even for life in some cases. Do not stop taking it or change the dose without guidance from your doctor. It could quickly put you more at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel). You can reduce your risk of having a blood clot by making changes to your lifestyle, such as not smoking, eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and losing weight if you need to. The most common side effect of Rivalet 10mg Tablet is bleeding more easily than normal, for example, having nosebleeds or bruising. If you experience any symptoms, tell your doctor immediately. Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney or liver problems, if you are currently bleeding or if you are taking other medicines to reduce blood clotting. You should not breastfeed while using this medicine. Unlike other anticoagulants, a regular blood test (PT-INR) is not required while taking this medicine.
Rivalet 10mg Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC). It works by stopping a clotting factor called factor Xa from working. This helps prevent the formation of blood clots in the body.
What are the side effects of Rivalet 10mg Tablet?
The most frequently reported side effects of Rivalet 10mg Tablet include prolonged or excessive bleeding, shortness of breath (which may be a sign of bleeding), fatigue, weakness, pallor, dizziness, headache, and unexplained swelling. Other potential adverse reactions can include severe skin and allergic reactions, bruising, coughing up blood, bleeding from the skin or under the skin, and limb swelling and pain. Rivalet 10mg Tablet may increase bilirubin levels and decrease platelet counts. Some people may experience fainting episodes, an increased heart rate, and dry mouth. If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor immediately.
Is Rivalet 10mg Tablet a blood thinner?
Yes, Rivalet 10mg Tablet is a blood thinner. It is a medication that prevents blood clotting within the blood vessels and helps prevent the recurrence of blood clots in these vessels. It may be prescribed to treat blood clots in the legs' veins and in the lungs' blood vessels.
Is Rivalet 10mg Tablet dangerous?
Rivalet 10mg Tablet is a beneficial medication, but it can increase bleeding compared to normal levels due to its ability to decrease blood clotting. It may cause serious bleeding in certain situations that require urgent medical attention. The risk of this is higher when taking Rivalet 10mg Tablet with other medications that thin the blood. If you notice any bleeding, contact your doctor immediately.
What foods should I avoid if I'm on blood thinners?
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be avoided while taking Rivalet 10mg Tablet as they contain compounds that slow down the metabolism of Rivalet 10mg Tablet, leading to increased bleeding. For other blood thinners like warfarin, you should avoid foods that increase vitamin K activity or promote clotting. These include spinach, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, asparagus, and green tea. However, it's not restricted with Rivalet 10mg Tablet.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rivalet 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
