Rifastop 200 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat infectious diarrhea. It works by killing and stopping the growth of harmful bacteria in the intestines. Rifastop 200 Tablet can be used alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. It should be used in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Take it at the same time each day to get the most benefit and you should keep on taking this medicine for as long as you are prescribed. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.
Rifastop 200 Tablet is an antibiotic. Rifastop 200 Tablet inhibits the bacteria's ability to make proteins and stops the growth of bacteria that cause infectious diarrhea.
How long should you take Rifastop 200 Tablet?
The duration for which you may need to take Rifastop 200 Tablet will depend on the disease being treated. If it is prescribed for treatment of traveler's diarrhea, it is usually given for 3 days. When given for irritable bowel syndrome, it is usually given for 14 days.
Can Rifastop 200 Tablet cure IBS?
Rifastop 200 Tablet can help improve symptoms and delay the recurrence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). However, it is not known if it will definitively cure the disease. While it has been shown to improve symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and discomfort, its long-term effect on complete cure is still being investigated. How long does Rifastop 200 Tablet take to work for IBS?
Rifastop 200 Tablet usually starts working within 24 to 48 hours. Symptoms like diarrhea may start improving gradually after you begin taking this medication. Usually, taking Rifastop 200 Tablet for two weeks provides relief from IBS symptoms. Additionally, some people experience relief that lasts up to 10 weeks even after stopping the medication.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rifastop 200 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- You have been prescribed Rifastop 200 Tablet for the treatment of infectious diarrhea.
- It should only be taken for a maximum of three days. If your symptoms do not improve after three days, inform your doctor. Do not take a second course of Rifastop 200 Tablet.
- It may cause reddish discoloration of urine. This is normal and harmless.
- Stop taking Rifastop 200 Tablet and inform your doctor if your diarrhoea gets worse or starts to contain blood or mucus.
- Finish the full course of the medication even if you feel better. Stopping the course early increases the risk of coming back of the infection.

Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Rifastop 200 Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Rifastop 200 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
