Revofer Solution for Injection is an iron replacement medicine used to treat iron-deficiency anemia, a type of anemia where you have fewer red blood cells due to insufficient iron in your body. Revofer Solution for Injection is given by injection or infusion into a vein by your doctor or nurse. It is usually given in two doses seven days apart. Your doctor will decide how much and how often you may need injections to improve your anemia. Eating a well-balanced diet that has enough iron, vitamins, and minerals can help to replenish your iron reserves. Good sources of iron include meat, eggs, raisins, broccoli, and lentils.
Revofer Solution for Injection replenishes the iron stores in your body. Iron is vital for the formation of new red blood cells and hemoglobin, a substance that gives these cells the ability to transport oxygen.
What precautions should be taken when administering Revofer Solution for Injection?
Revofer Solution for Injection should only be administered by trained personnel who are familiar with handling serious allergic reactions (anaphylactic reaction). The solution can be administered as an undiluted injection directly into a vein or via a dialyzer if the patient is undergoing dialysis. It can also be diluted with sodium chloride and given as an infusion directly into the vein. Patients should be monitored for at least 30 minutes after each injection. Injection should not be given subcutaneously (under the skin) or intramuscularly (into muscle).
How should Revofer Solution for Injection vials be stored before use?
Revofer Solution for Injection vials should be stored at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Do not freeze the vials. The temperature range should remain between 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F).
How often can Revofer Solution for Injection be re-injected?
Normally, two doses of this medicine are given 7 days apart. After the final injection, hemoglobin should be assessed at least 4 weeks later to allow time for the red blood cells (RBCs) to form. Yes, Revofer Solution for Injection may cause a temporary rise in blood pressure accompanied by facial flushing, dizziness, and nausea. This may occur immediately after you take the medicine and generally disappears within 30 minutes.
What should be done if Revofer Solution for Injection leaks?
Incorrect administration of Revofer Solution for Injection can lead to leakage from the injection site. Stop the injection immediately if there is any leakage. Leakage may cause skin irritation and long-lasting brown discoloration at the injection site.
