Phensedyl LM Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy, asthma, and skin allergies in children. Phensedyl LM Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Phensedyl LM Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
Can I mix cough and allergy medicines for my child?
No. Do not combine cough and allergy medications as they typically contain similar ingredients. Mixing these might result in double dosing of the active components, potentially leading to serious side effects.
My child feels better. Can I reduce the dose of Phensedyl LM Syrup by myself?
No. Adhere to the prescribed dosage as instructed by your child's doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose independently, as it can negatively impact their health. Increasing the dose could lead to unwanted effects like sedation and depression, while decreasing the dose or stopping it abruptly may trigger a rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Phensedyl LM Syrup be stored?
Store Phensedyl LM Syrup at room temperature in a dry location, away from direct heat and light. Ensure that all medications are kept out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
Does Phensedyl LM Syrup cause drowsiness?
Phensedyl LM Syrup can cause mild drowsiness in your child, which may lead to sleepiness. However, it is crucial not to use this medication solely for inducing sleep in children. Forcing sleep might mask underlying sleep disorders like insomnia.
Can I start Phensedyl LM Syrup before an upcoming sports event?
No. Do not initiate the use of Phensedyl LM Syrup without consulting your child's doctor first. Moreover, it can potentially hamper their performance due to its side effects like mild sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness. Please consult your child’s doctor for guidance.
Can I stop using the medication on my own?
No. Discontinuing this medicine abruptly might lead to the reappearance of all symptoms if used long-term. It is strongly advised to stop it gradually under your child’s doctor's supervision.
What is the safety of giving Phensedyl LM Syrup to a child with mood disorders?
Some studies suggest that Phensedyl LM Syrup may cause mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, trembling, and problems controlling body movements. Therefore, it's crucial to consult your child’s doctor before using any medication.
Can I use Phensedyl LM Syrup for treating acute asthma attacks?
Phensedyl LM Syrup is only used to prevent asthma attacks. It should not be used to stop an attack that has already begun. For immediate relief, utilize your child's reliever medicine.
Phensedyl LM Syrup is a medication that should be used as directed by a doctor. It is important to follow the dosage instructions and not to stop taking the medication without consulting a doctor.
