Olprovate S Lotion is a combination of two medicines: Clobetasol and Salicylic Acid. Clobetasol is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Clobetasol into the skin.
How do I use Olprovate S Lotion correctly?
To use Olprovate S Lotion effectively, apply a thin layer to the affected skin area in sufficient quantity. Typically, it is recommended to apply the lotion two or three times a day. After using the lotion, make sure to wash your hands unless you are treating a skin infection on your hands.
Should I stop using Olprovate S Lotion once my symptoms improve?
No, it's essential to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor or recommended on the product label. Stopping treatment prematurely may allow the underlying condition to persist.
What precautions should I take when using Olprovate S Lotion?
When using Olprovate S Lotion, avoid applying it to your face. Also, refrain from using the medication for longer than advised or covering the treated area with a bandage/dressing, as this can increase absorption and side effects. The medicine should only be used by the intended patient and not shared with others.
Will Olprovate S Lotion be more effective if I use more than prescribed?
No, overusing Olprovate S Lotion will not enhance its effectiveness but can lead to adverse effects such as skin thinning or weakening. If your symptoms worsen, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
How should I store and dispose of Olprovate S Lotion?
Store the medicine in its original container, tightly closed, following the storage instructions provided on the pack or label. Dispose of any unused medicine responsibly to prevent accidental ingestion by pets, children, or other individuals.
