In children, it is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Oflomac MN Syrup is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
What if I give excess Oflomac MN Syrup by mistake?
While an extra dose of Oflomac MN Syrup will not have any side effects, always exercise caution. If you believe your child has taken too much Oflomac MN Syrup, consult a doctor immediately. Overdose can increase the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. - Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Oflomac MN Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
- Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
- Discontinue Oflomac MN Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.
- Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.
