Oflomac Forte Oral Solution is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children, including those affecting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, and urinary tract. Oflomac Forte Oral Solution is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen. This medicine is used to target the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, and urinary tract.
Oflomac Forte Oral Solution is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
What if I give too much of Oflomac Forte Oral Solution by mistake?
An extra dose of Oflomac Forte Oral Solution is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you think you have given too much to your child, immediately consult with a doctor. Overdose may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). If you notice any of these symptoms, rush to your child's doctor on an immediate basis.
What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Oflomac Forte Oral Solution for the prescribed duration?
If your child does not show improvement after taking Oflomac Forte Oral Solution for the prescribed duration, it may indicate that the medicine is not effective against the infection-causing bacteria. In this case, consult with your child's doctor, who may prescribe a different antibiotic that is more specific in action. Additionally, some medicines may need to be administered via an IV route (intravenous injection) in a hospital setting.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Oflomac Forte Oral Solution?
Oflomac Forte Oral Solution can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Before starting Oflomac Forte Oral Solution, inform your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking. Also, consult with your child's doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Oflomac Forte Oral Solution?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not receive vaccinations until they have recovered from their illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Oflomac Forte Oral Solution to my child?
Inform your child's doctor if your child has a pre-existing condition such as heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because Oflomac Forte Oral Solution may exacerbate these conditions and lead to complications.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Oflomac Forte Oral Solution as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
