Nucoril 10mg Tablet is a medicine used to prevent and treat heart-related chest pain (angina). It is usually prescribed when other heart medicines are either not suitable or have not worked. Nucoril 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Take this medicine regularly and at about the same time(s) each day. Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take it. This may change from time to time depending on how well it is working. Do not stop taking it without talking to our doctor as sudden withdrawal may cause your chest pain to come back. You can improve the health of your heart by making some lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, cutting down on alcohol, eating well, exercising regularly, and managing stress.
Nucoril 10mg Tablet is a vasodilator. It works by reducing the workload of the heart. As a result, heart muscle does not need as much blood and oxygen supply. It also relaxes coronary artery (that carries blood to heart). This reduces the frequency and severity of angina attacks.
What class of drug is Nucoril 10mg Tablet and what is it used for?
Nucoril 10mg Tablet belongs to a class of medications known as 'potassium channel openers'. It causes widening of the arteries, which decreases the workload of the heart to pump blood. This also improves blood and oxygen supply to your heart muscle. It is prescribed to patients with stable angina (heart-related chest pain) who cannot take other medicines (beta-blockers, calcium channel antagonists) meant for angina.
Can I stop taking Nucoril 10mg Tablet?
No, you should not stop taking Nucoril 10mg Tablet without speaking to your doctor first. If you abruptly stop taking it, your anginal pain may recur. Talk to your doctor if experiencing any side effects.
How long does it take for Nucoril 10mg Tablet to start working?
Nucoril 10mg Tablet starts working after about an hour of taking the medication, but full benefits may be seen only after 4 to 5 days.

An individual who has taken more than the prescribed dosage should be immediately brought to a hospital. This may lead to signs of low blood pressure, such as weakness or dizziness. They may also experience irregular or rapid heartbeats.
Can I take Nucoril 10mg Tablet if I am taking aspirin?
You should avoid taking Nucoril 10mg Tablet and aspirin together. Combining these two medications increases the risk of ulcers or bleeding in the mouth, stomach, or intestines. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice blood in your stool or vomit while using Nucoril 10mg Tablet.
Who should not use Nucoril 10mg Tablet?
People who are allergic to Nucoril 10mg Tablet or any of its ingredients should avoid this medication. Additionally, patients with heart problems such as cardiogenic shock, left ventricular failure with low filling pressure or cardiac decompensation, or a build-up of fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema) should not use Nucoril 10mg Tablet. Moreover, patients taking medicines for erectile dysfunction (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil) or medicines for pulmonary hypertension (e.g., riociguat) should avoid this medication as well.
Can Nucoril 10mg Tablet affect my sex life?
No, Nucoril 10mg Tablet does not impact your sex life. However, it is not advisable to combine medicines for erectile dysfunction (e.g., sildenafil or tadalafil) or premature ejaculation (e.g., vardenafil or dapoxetine) with Nucoril 10mg Tablet. Combining them can lead to a significant drop in blood pressure.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nucoril 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

- Do not take medications like sildenafil or tadalafil (prescribed for erectile dysfunction) while on treatment with Nucoril 10mg Tablet as it may cause low blood pressure.
- Inform your doctor if you notice any bleeding from the anal passage, blood in vomit or black stools.

Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Nucoril 10mg Tablet.
Breastfeed
Nucoril 10mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Nucoril 10mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
