Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen is a long-acting type of insulin used to treat types 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus in both adults and children. Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen can be prescribed alone or along with fast-acting insulin or other diabetes medicines. Your doctor or nurse will teach you the correct way of injecting it under the skin. You should use this medicine regularly as per the dose advised to get the maximum benefit. If you stop taking it, your blood sugar levels may rise very high which may put you at risk of serious complications. It is only a part of the treatment program that should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise and weight reduction as advised by your doctor.
Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen is a long-acting insulin that provides consistent all-day sugar control. It works like your body's natural insulin. Insulin facilitates reuptake of sugar in muscle and fat cells and also suppresses the production of sugar in the liver.
What kind of insulin is Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen?
Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen is a man-made insulin that closely resembles human insulin. It provides long-lasting (constant) effects on blood sugar levels, and the action lasts for a full day. This makes it suitable to be used once daily.
How is Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen administered?
Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen is injected subcutaneously, just below the skin. Your doctor will guide you on proper injection technique and areas (abdomen or stomach, thighs, arms, hips, or buttocks) where to inject it. It's recommended to rotate the injection site for every dose. Avoid repeatedly injecting at the same spot by moving your needle slightly in a different location, such as 1cm away from previous injection site. Consider switching sides while injecting to reduce complications like lipodystrophy (fat tissue thickening), irritation, and pain.
Can I take Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen twice a day?
Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen is long-acting and typically taken once daily. It can be taken at any time of the day, but it's advisable to take it at the same time each day.
What will happen if I accidentally inject more than the prescribed dose of Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen?
If you've accidentally taken a higher dose of Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen, your blood sugar levels may drop drastically (hypoglycemia). This can range from mild to severe. Monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently for the next 24 hours. Mild hypoglycemia symptoms include anxiety, sweating, weakness, tremors, fast heartbeat. You can often correct it with sugary foods like candy, fruit juice, or glucose/glucon-D solution. However, always consult your doctor if any issues arise to determine appropriate treatment. Severe hypoglycemia might lead to seizures (fits) or unconsciousness, which can be life-threatening. Seek immediate medical attention in such cases.
How should Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen be stored?
Keep Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen out of reach of children and store unopened vials in the refrigerator. Do not freeze them. An unopened, Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a year. If it's been exposed to room temperature for an extended period, discard it.
In what circumstances will the dose of Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen need to be changed?
Consult your doctor about adjusting your insulin dose in several instances: if you are ill, monitor blood sugar levels more closely. Inform your doctor of all medications you're taking as some can affect insulin effectiveness. Your eating habits might also impact your dose; for example, if you have fewer meals or consume a higher or lower amount than usual, your blood sugar may change. Consider exercise regimen changes, alcohol consumption, and stress levels too as they can affect your dose.
What are the serious side effects of Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen?
Serious side effects with Nobeglar UNO 100IU/ml Pre-filled Pen are rare. Severe allergic reactions can occur, causing skin rashes, hives, itching all over the body, trouble breathing (wheezing), fast heart rate, and low blood pressure. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms. Other side effects include severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels) leading to dizziness, sweating, anxiety, confusion, headache, blurred vision, slurred speech, shakiness, fast heartbeat, seizures, and unconsciousness.
