What is Mythocis 2500mcg Injection?
Mythocis 2500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It's also important for releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 from sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. While individuals who are vegetarian or vegan may not get vitamin B12 because it is not naturally found in foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 is usually seen in vegetarians or vegans.
What happens if I have a vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency may cause tiredness, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than normal). Mythocis 2500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, in rare cases, side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, and rash can occur. Discontinue using this medication immediately if a rash occurs.
How should Mythocis 2500mcg Injection be given?
Mythocis 2500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mythocis 2500mcg Injection) and it's given three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Mythocis 2500mcg Injection) is given every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Mythocis 2500mcg Injection?
Do not repeat the injection at the same site each time. If there's intense pain while injecting or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different site.
Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Mythocis 2500mcg Injection. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Mythocis 2500mcg Injection is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
