Mucoport Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat cough, thinning mucus in the nose and windpipe, and relieving throat irritation. Mucoport Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Mucoport Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Ambroxol, Guaifenesin, Menthol and Terbutaline.
Will a higher than the recommended dose of Mucoport Syrup be more effective?
Taking higher than the recommended dose of Mucoport Syrup may not increase effectiveness and could potentially lead to increased side effects. If your symptoms do not improve after taking Mucoport Syrup as prescribed, please consult your doctor.
In which type of cough will the doctor prescribe Mucoport Syrup?
Mucoport Syrup is indicated for treatment of coughs accompanied by excessive mucus production.
Are there any contraindications associated with use of Mucoport Syrup?
Avoid using Mucoport Syrup if you are hypersensitive to any of the components in its formulation. Do not use this medication if you have pre-existing ischaemic heart disease, significant risk factors for ischaemic heart disease, or gastric ulceration.
What are the instructions for the storage and disposal of Mucoport Syrup?
Keep Mucoport Syrup in its original container, tightly sealed. Store according to the instructions on the packaging label. Discard any unused medication. Do not allow pets, children, or other individuals to access this medicine.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Mucoport Syrup may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- Mucoport Syrup may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
- If you are diabetic, monitor your blood glucose regularly while taking this medicine.
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of thyroid or heart disease.
- Stop taking Mucoport Syrup and inform your doctor if your cough persists for more than 1 week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by a fever, rash or persistent headache.
