Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension belongs to a group of medicine called steroids. It is used to treat redness and swelling in the eyes caused by infection or allergy. It provides relief from redness, itchiness and soreness by preventing the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.
Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.

Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension belongs to a group of medicines called steroids, also known as corticosteroids. It is used to relieve swelling, itchiness and redness of the eyes that may be caused due to infection.
Is Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension effective?
Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.

No, you should not stop using Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension suddenly without talking to your doctor. You may feel better and your symptoms may also improve before completing the full course of treatment. Still, it is advised to continue the medication as stopping the medication too early could allow the spread of the infection and hence, prevent complete healing.
In which conditions is the use of Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension avoided?
Use of Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension should be avoided in patients who are allergic to Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension or any of its components. However, if you are not aware of any allergy or if you are using Lotepred 1% Ophthalmic Suspension for the first time, consult your doctor.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off the extra liquid.
- Do not use for more than the prescribed duration as it may cause glaucoma or secondary infection.
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye for about 1 minute after instilling the drop.
- Wait for 5-10 minutes before administering another eye drops.
- Avoid driving until vision is clear.
- Notify your doctor if stinging persists longer than 1-2 minutes.
- Remove contact lenses and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back after the medication.
- Use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
- Do not stop using without talking to your doctor.
