Levoclay M Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy, asthma, and skin allergies in children. Levoclay M Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Levoclay M Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
My child is experiencing a persistent cough along with allergic symptoms. Can I combine cough and allergy medications?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medications because they usually contain similar ingredients. Combining these medications may lead to double dosing of the active substances, which could cause serious side effects.
Can I adjust the Levoclay M Syrup dosage on my own if my child feels better?
No, follow the prescribed dosage recommended by your child's doctor. Never increase or decrease the dose on your own as it may negatively impact your child's health. While increasing the dose might lead to unwanted effects like sedation and depression, decreasing the dose or stopping abruptly could trigger a rebound reversal of all symptoms.
What is the proper storage method for Levoclay M Syrup?
Levoclay M Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. It's important to keep all medications out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental intake.
Does Levoclay M Syrup cause drowsiness in my child?
Levoclay M Syrup may cause mild drowsiness which could make your child sleepy. However, never use this medication for inducing sleep. Forcing sleep might mask any underlying sleep disorder such as insomnia.
My child is an athlete and has to participate in a sporting event in the next two days. Can I start the Levoclay M Syrup course?
No, do not begin Levoclay M Syrup before speaking with your child's doctor. Additionally, this medicine might interfere with your child's performance due to its potential for inducing mild sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness. It is recommended to consult a medical professional first.
Can I stop taking the medication by myself?
No, it's crucial to discontinue this medicine gradually under your child's doctor's guidance. Sudden withdrawal may trigger a rebound effect of all symptoms that were previously being managed.
Is Levoclay M Syrup safe for someone with a mood disorder?
While some studies suggest potential connections between Levoclay M Syrup and mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and difficulty controlling body movement have been reported. Please consult your child's doctor before administering any medication.
Can I use Levoclay M Syrup for treating acute asthma attacks in my child?
