What is Hemozink syrup used for?
This syrup is a nutritional supplement that contains Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-complex, Protein, Amino acid and Zinc. It is used for the treatment and prevention of iron, folic acid and cyanocobalamin deficiency. It also helps in maintaining overall health and well-being. Additionally, it is also generally recommended as a supplement for pregnant women and lactating mothers.
How long does Hemozink syrup take to work?
If you are taking it for iron deficiency anaemia, you may start feeling better after a few weeks of taking it. In case you are taking it during pregnancy, you may not notice any difference but this does not mean that the dose is not working. Continue taking this medicine for the duration recommended by your doctor.
When should I take Hemozink syrup, in the morning or at night?
You can take it at any time of the day, but try to take it at the same time each day. This will help you remember to take it. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Is Hemozink syrup safe?
Generally, it is well-tolerated with no major side effects. However, some people may experience stomach and intestinal problems which include nausea (feeling sick), dark-coloured stools, and stomach upset or digestion issues. If you experience any of these symptoms, consult your doctor.
What are the symptoms associated with iron and folic acid deficiency?
Deficiency of iron and folic acid may cause anaemia that is characterized by GI upset, weakness, tiredness, lack of energy, headaches, and problems with concentration and memory. Additionally, it may also affect your ability to fight off infections, work and exercise. Folate deficiency can also cause sores inside the mouth and changes in the colour of the skin, hair, or fingernails. The deficiency of iron and folic acid during pregnancy may result in premature or low birth weight baby. Also, it increases the risk of having babies with an underdeveloped brain and spinal cord.
What medicines should not be taken while taking Hemozink Syrup?
Medicines that treat indigestion (antacids), bacterial infections (antibiotics like chloramphenicol), and bone problems (like bisphosphonates) can be taken with a minimum gap of two hours. You must consult your doctor if you are supposed to take Hemozink Syrup along with medicines like phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy), methotrexate (used to treat cancer), sulfasalazine (used to treat ulcers), diuretics (used to treat hypertension), metformin (used to treat diabetes) and cimetidine (used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease)
For adults: It is recommended to take one tablespoon of this syrup twice a day to improve your iron levels in the body or as prescribed by the physician. For children: It is advised to take this syrup as directed by the physician since for kids as the dosage is dependent on the type and severity of the condition.
