Geripod D Tablet is indicated for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) in adult males. Geripod D Tablet is a combination of two medicines that work in different ways to treat men with an enlarged prostate gland. It helps to relieve symptoms such as difficulty urinating or needing to go to the toilet more often. It is not used to prevent prostate cancer.
Geripod D Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Silodosin and Dutasteride, which relieves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Silodosin is an alpha-blocker that relaxes the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland for easy passage of urine. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that shrinks the prostate gland by decreasing the level of the hormone which helps the prostate grow.
Is Geripod D Tablet effective?
Geripod D Tablet is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Geripod D Tablet too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.
What is benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH)?
Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) is also known as prostate gland enlargement. It is a common condition in older men. BPH may cause symptoms like frequent or urgent need to urinate, increased frequency of urination at night (nocturia) and inability to completely empty the bladder.
Can the use of Geripod D Tablet cause dizziness?
Yes, the use of Geripod D Tablet can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. These symptoms could be due to the presence of silodosin in the medicine. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.
Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Geripod D Tablet?
The use of Geripod D Tablet is considered to be harmful in patients who are allergic to any active or inactive ingredients of the medicine. Caution is advised in patients with underlying kidney or liver disease. If not sure, consult your doctor.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Geripod D Tablet should be taken with or after food.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Geripod D Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Geripod D Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.
Pregnancy
Geripod D Tablet is highly unsafe during pregnancy. It can cause serious harm to the unborn baby, including birth defects and pregnancy loss. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
