How it works

Dexoren S Eye/Ear Drops is a combination of two medicines: Chloramphenicol and Dexamethasone. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth in the eye/ear by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by the bacteria to carry out vital functions. Dexamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye/ear red, swollen, and itchy.

Direction of use

This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye/ear without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid or ear. Wipe off extra liquid.

Tips

• Your doctor has prescribed Dexoren S Eye/Ear Drops to cure your eye/ear infection and improve your symptoms.
• Use it twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day.
• Wash your hands first before applying Dexoren S Eye/Ear Drops. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. If it does, squeeze out two or three drops straightaway onto some tissue and rinse the tip with saltwater.
• Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the medication. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
• Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
• Along with using Dexoren S Eye/Ear Drops, give a warm compress to your eyes to get relief from itching and burning sensation.
• Take care to avoid spreading the infection from one eye to the other and to other members of your family. Washing your hands regularly (particularly after touching your eyes) and not sharing towels or pillows will help to prevent the infection from spreading.
