Choliv Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Choliv Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Choliv Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Can Choliv Syrup cause dryness in the mouth?
Yes, Choliv Syrup may cause dry mouth as a side effect. To alleviate this, it is recommended to drink plenty of water throughout the day, taking regular sips, and keeping a glass of water nearby at night. Additionally, using lip balm can help soothe dry lips.
