Cetiniv M Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy, asthma, and skin allergies in children. Cetiniv M Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Cetiniv M Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
My child is experiencing persistent cough and allergic symptoms. Can I give them a combination of cough and allergy medicines?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medications because they usually contain similar ingredients. Mixing these can result in double dosing, which could potentially cause serious side effects.
Can I adjust the dose of Cetiniv M Syrup based on my child's improvement?
No. Adhere to the prescribed dosage by your child's doctor. Never increase or decrease the dose without consulting a healthcare professional. Adjusting the dose could negatively impact your child's health.
What is the recommended storage method for Cetiniv M Syrup?
Cetiniv M Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight or heat. Keep all medications out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
Does Cetiniv M Syrup cause drowsiness in my child?
Cetiniv M Syrup may cause mild drowsiness, which could make your child sleepy. However, this medication should never be used to induce sleep. Forced sleep could mask underlying sleep disorders like insomnia.
Can I start using Cetiniv M Syrup before a competitive sport event?
No, do not begin using Cetiniv M Syrup without consulting your child's doctor first. The medication may cause side effects such as sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness, potentially impacting their performance in sports. Consult with the doctor for guidance.
Can I stop taking Cetiniv M Syrup on my own?
No. It is crucial to discontinue this medication gradually under your child's doctor’s supervision.
Does Cetiniv M Syrup cause mood disorders in children?
Some research suggests that Cetiniv M Syrup could induce mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and difficulty controlling body movements. Consult your child’s doctor before administering any medication.
Can I use Cetiniv M Syrup for treating an asthma attack in my child?
Cetiniv M Syrup is intended to prevent asthma attacks, not for immediate treatment of ongoing attacks. Always utilize your child's reliever medication if they experience an ongoing asthma attack.
Cetiniv M Syrup is a medication that should be used as directed by a doctor. It is important to follow the dosage instructions and not to stop taking the medication without consulting a doctor.
