Breethe L Syrup is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy, asthma, and skin allergies in children. Breethe L Syrup is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Breethe L Syrup contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist that works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
Can I combine cough and allergy medication for my child? Is it safe?
No, do not mix cough and allergy medications because they generally contain similar ingredients. Combining them may lead to double dosing of active ingredients, potentially causing serious side effects.
Can I decrease the dosage of Breethe L Syrup on my own if my child feels better?
No. Adhere strictly to the prescribed dose by your child's doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose yourself as this could have negative consequences for their health. While increasing the dose might cause unwanted effects like sedation and depression, decreasing the dose abruptly may result in a rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Breethe L Syrup be stored?
Store Breethe L Syrup at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Also, keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children to prevent accidental intake.
Does Breethe L Syrup make my child sleepy?
Breethe L Syrup can cause mild drowsiness which may make your child feel sleepy. However, never give this medicine to induce sleep. Forcing sleep could mask any underlying sleep disorder like insomnia.
Can I start using Breethe L Syrup before my child’s sports event?
No. Consult your child's doctor before starting Breethe L Syrup. Furthermore, Breethe L Syrup may affect your child's performance as it can cause mild sedation, dizziness, and sleepiness. It is best to discuss this with the doctor first.
Can I stop taking Breethe L Syrup on my own?
No, you should not discontinue using Breethe L Syrup without consulting your child's doctor. Sudden withdrawal may cause symptoms to reappear as it usually requires a gradual approach.
Is Breethe L Syrup safe for children with mood disorders?
Some studies have shown that Breethe L Syrup can trigger mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and difficulty controlling body movements. Please consult your child's doctor before administering any medication to your child.
Can I use Breethe L Syrup to treat an acute asthma attack in my child?
Breethe L Syrup is intended for prevention of asthma attacks. It should not be used to stop an attack that has already started. Use your child's reliever medication if they are experiencing an attack.
Breethe L Syrup is a medication that should be used as directed by a doctor. It is important to follow the dosage instructions and not to stop taking the medication without consulting a doctor.
