Biobend Oral Suspension is a medicine used to treat parasitic worm infections in children. Biobend Oral Suspension is effective against a range of parasitic worm infections in children. It restrains the worms from absorbing the body's essential nutrients, causing them to lose their energy and leading to their eventual death. The dead worms are then removed from your child's body through the stool.
Worms enter inside your child's body when your child eats or drinks something that's infected with a worm or its eggs. Once inside the body, these worms get attached to the inner walls of the intestines and can even enter other body organs. Biobend Oral Suspension works by keeping the worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), thereby depleting their energy level. This causes the worms to die, thereby treating your child's infection.
How can you tell if a child has a worm infection?
If your child experiences persistent anal itching or discomfort while sitting, accompanied by symptoms such as fatigue, restless sleep, loss of appetite, frequent indigestion, and pica (eating inedible substances like mud), it may indicate a worm infestation. Consult your child's doctor immediately if you notice any of these signs.
How can a child become infected with intestinal worms?
Children are often heavily infected due to poor sanitation. Transmission can occur through contaminated water, food, and soil that harbor the eggs of intestinal worms. Playing in contaminated soil can also lead to infection. Ensure your child washes their hands thoroughly after playing.
What is deworming?
Deworming refers to the process of eliminating worms from the body. Biobend Oral Suspension is a commonly used treatment for children.
Can other medications be given with Biobend Oral Suspension?
Medications intended to relieve pain and fever can usually be taken alongside Biobend Oral Suspension, unless instructed otherwise by your child's doctor. However, some medications should not be combined with Biobend Oral Suspension due to potential side effects, so consult your child's doctor before co-administering any other medicines.
When is the best time to give Biobend Oral Suspension to a child?
Biobend Oral Suspension can be administered at any time of day, but it should be taken with a fat-containing food, such as milk.
Who should not take Biobend Oral Suspension?
Children with known allergies to albendazole or similar medications like mebendazole or thiabendazole should not take Biobend Oral Suspension. Signs of an allergic reaction include skin rash, shortness of breath, and swelling of the face or tongue. Inform your child's doctor about any medical conditions or other medicines your child is taking before administering this medication.
Give this medicine to your child with a fat-containing food such as milk as it enables better absorption in the body. Follow the prescribed dosage strictly. In case your child is prescribed to take this medicine for a few days, make sure to complete the dosage as stopping abruptly may lead to re-infection.
