Ascodex AX Syrup effectively treats wet cough (cough with mucus) in children by thinning the mucus and relieving throat irritation. Give Ascodex AX Syrup to your child orally, with or without food. It helps in thinning the mucus by increasing its water content, relieving throat irritation, and clearing congestion. You may need to give this medicine to your child for a few days to weeks, depending on the clinical condition and severity of the illness. Do not stop the medication abruptly, even if your child starts to feel better. Common side effects may include excessive salivation, fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, irregular heartbeat, rash, tremors, and numbness or tingling sensation in the hands or feet. Consult your child's doctor for any worrisome episodes.
Ascodex AX Syrup contains three active medicines. Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that decreases the stickiness of the mucus and helps in its removal from the airways. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator that relaxes and widens the muscles in the airways.
What can I give my child for a cough with no mucus?
For a dry cough, it's best to use a cough suppressant. However, if your child has a wet cough, Ascodex AX Syrup may be suitable as it helps expel mucus from the airway tract, relieving throat irritation and congestion. Consult your child's doctor for advice.
What should I do if my child takes too much Ascodex AX Syrup?
If your child overdoses on Ascodex AX Syrup or takes it for too long, they may experience serious side effects such as seizures, rapid heart rate, and excessive salivation. Ensure the correct dosage and administration, and do not stop the medication abruptly even if symptoms improve.
Can I give my child two cough medicines together?
Unless advised by your child's doctor, do not give them more than one cough or cold medicine at a time. If unsure, always consult with your child's doctor before administering any medications.
Can I give my adult cough medicine to my child?
No, never give your child medicines formulated for adults. Children should only receive medications specifically designed for them to avoid unwanted side effects. Check the label and follow the prescribed dose strictly.
How should Ascodex AX Syrup be stored?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Ascodex AX Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

- Do not share your child’s medicines with other children, even if they show similar symptoms.
- Stop Ascodex AX Syrup and immediately report to the doctor if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces after sneezing and coughing to avoid allergies.
- Give your child plenty of fluids as it helps to thin and loosen the mucus accumulated in the lungs.
- Restrain your child from having caffeinated products and foods that are spicy and fried. All these can trigger coughing.
- Make your child gargle with warm saltwater.
- Ensure your child takes enough rest.
Alcohol
