Allercet-DC Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, throat irritation, watery eyes, and congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Allercet-DC Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Cetirizine is an antiallergic which blocks the action of a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.
Does Allercet-DC Tablet cause drowsiness or sleepiness?
Yes, Allercet-DC Tablet may cause drowsiness or make you feel sleepy. Avoid driving, operating machinery, working at heights, or engaging in potentially dangerous activities until you know how the medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you experience such an episode while taking this medication.
Does Allercet-DC Tablet cause dry mouth?
Yes, Allercet-DC Tablet can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips throughout the day and keep some water by your bed at night.
Are there any contraindications for using Allercet-DC Tablet?
Allercet-DC Tablet should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its active or inactive ingredients. Caution is advised in patients with underlying kidney or liver disease.
What precautions should I take while using Allercet-DC Tablet?
Avoid alcohol use. Avoid engaging in hazardous occupations requiring complete mental alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, while taking Allercet-DC Tablet.
How should Allercet-DC Tablet be stored and disposed of?
Keep this medicine in its original packaging tightly closed. Store according to the instructions on the label. Do not use or consume any leftover medication, and dispose of it appropriately. Keep it out of reach of pets, children, and other people.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Allercet-DC Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- You have been prescribed Allercet-DC Tablet for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose.
- Stop taking Allercet-DC Tablet at least three days before taking an allergy test as it can affect the test results.
- Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor even if you feel better.
- If you drink alcohol while you are taking Allercet-DC Tablet be aware of its effects on you and do not drink more than moderate amounts.
- Keep sipping water or try chewing sugar-free gum to get relief from dryness in the mouth.
- The most common side effects are dryness in the mouth, headache, nausea, vomiting, and tiredness. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time.
Alcohol
Caution is advised when consuming alcohol with Allercet-DC Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Allercet-DC Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Allercet-DC Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
