Alcocet-M Kid Tablet is a medication used to treat symptoms of allergy in children, such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. Alcocet-M Kid Tablet is commonly prescribed in children to treat symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, congestion, and watery eyes. It may also help in the treatment of asthma and skin allergies.
Alcocet-M Kid Tablet contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast. Together these two relieve sneezing and runny nose caused due to allergies. Levocetirizine is an antiallergic that blocks a chemical messenger (histamine) responsible for runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Montelukast is a leukotriene antagonist. It works by blocking another chemical messenger (leukotriene). This reduces inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose and improves symptoms.
My child has a persistent cough along with allergic symptoms. Can I give cough and allergy medicine together?
No. Do not mix cough and allergy medicines because they usually both contain similar ingredients. Mixing these medications may result in double dosing of the active ingredients, which could cause serious side effects. Consult your child's doctor for appropriate treatment options.
Can I decrease the dose of Alcocet-M Kid Tablet by myself if my child starts to feel better?
No, adhere to the prescribed dose as directed by your child’s doctor. Do not increase or decrease the dose yourself; it can impact your child's health. While increasing the dose may cause unwanted effects like sedation and depression, decreasing the dose or stopping it suddenly can result in rebound reversal of all symptoms.
How should Alcocet-M Kid Tablet be stored?
Alcocet-M Kid Tablet should be stored at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children to avoid any accidental intake.
Can Alcocet-M Kid Tablet make my child sleepy?
Alcocet-M Kid Tablet may cause mild drowsiness, which can lead to sleepiness in your child. However, never use this medication to induce sleep. Forced sleep could mask any underlying sleep disorder like insomnia.
My child is an athlete and has to participate in a sports event in the next two days. Can I start the course of Alcocet-M Kid Tablet?
No, do not start Alcocet-M Kid Tablet without speaking to your child's doctor. It can impair their athletic performance due to possible sedation, dizziness and sleepiness. It’s best to consult with a medical professional first.
Can I stop the medicine by myself?
No, all symptoms may reappear on sudden withdrawal of Alcocet-M Kid Tablet, usually if taken for a long time. It's advised to gradually stop this medication under the guidance of your child's doctor.
My child is suffering from a mood disorder. Is it safe to give Alcocet-M Kid Tablet to my child?
Some studies have shown that Alcocet-M Kid Tablet may trigger mood disorders, hallucinations, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, shakiness, and trouble controlling body movements. Therefore, consult your child’s doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Can I use Alcocet-M Kid Tablet for treating acute asthma attacks in my child?
Alcocet-M Kid Tablet is meant for preventing asthma attacks, not for stopping an attack that has already started. Use your child’s reliever medicine to help with an attack that has already started.
Consult your child's doctor for proper dosage and usage instructions.
