Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops is a medicine that helps clear and soothes the blocked nose, thereby relieving nasal congestion due to common cold, hay fever, or other respiratory allergies in children. Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops is meant to be used externally by nasal route only. Put it into each nostril strictly as prescribed by your child's doctor. Try not to touch the tip of the medicine container while putting it in your child's nose. If this happens, rinse the tip with hot water and dry with a clean tissue before recapping the medicine container. Close one nostril while applying the medicine into the other and then ask your child to sniff hard to make sure it reaches deep into the nose. Once done, repeat for the other nostril. Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops provides quick relief approximately within 2 minutes that lasts for several hours (up to 10 hours). It is recommended to make the last application shortly before your child retires to bed. It renders only temporary relief so do not use it more often or for longer than recommended. Using it for a longer duration may cause side effects. On the other hand, stopping the medicine abruptly can make the congestion come back with severity and can worsen your child's condition.
Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops is a nasal decongestant. It helps in opening up the nasal passages by reducing excessive nasal secretions and also reducing the swelling in the blood vessels in the inner surface of the nose. This provides temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.
Can I give Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops continuously for more than 2 weeks if my child has on and off nasal congestion?
It's essential to use Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops as directed by your doctor. Using it for more than 10 consecutive days can lead to complications such as atrophic rhinitis, a condition that causes inflammation and scarring in the nasal passages. Additionally, abruptly stopping the medication can cause rebound congestion, which is a worsening of symptoms. To avoid these issues, please follow the prescribed dosing schedule.
What if I accidentally give too much Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops to my child?
If your child receives an overdose of Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an overdose can include severe dizziness, excessive sweating, a severely lowered body temperature, headache, bradycardia (low heart rate), hypertension, respiratory depression, coma, and convulsions. It's crucial to monitor your child closely for any signs of these symptoms.
How do I use Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops in my child?
Before administering Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops, have your child blow their nose gently to clear it. Then, have them lie down and look up. Tilt their head back as far as comfortable or position the head over the side of a bed. Open the cap of the medicine container without touching the nozzle to the nose. Gently insert one drop into each nostril, allowing your child to keep their head tilted for a short time to allow the drops to spread throughout the nose. Replace the cap after use and clean and dry the nozzle before storing it.
When should I contact my child's doctor right away?
If your child experiences symptoms such as insomnia, dizziness, tremor, irregular heartbeat, or elevated blood pressure after using Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops, please seek medical attention immediately.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops?
It's essential to inform your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking before starting Zolinose 0.05% Nasal Drops. Additionally, consult with their doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
In what position should my child sleep when they have a stuffy nose?
To help alleviate congestion, have your child sleep on their back with a pillow to facilitate the drainage of mucus. Avoid having them sleep on their side as it may exacerbate congestion in one or both nostrils.
Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Tilt your head as far back as possible and hold the dropper close to the nose without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine in the nose. Bend your head forward for a few minutes.
