Zerotuss XP Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat cough with mucus, thinning mucus in the nose, windpipe, and lungs, and providing relief from runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. Zerotuss XP Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Zerotuss XP Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Ambroxol, Levosalbutamol, and Guaifenesin, which relieves cough with mucus.
What is Zerotuss XP Syrup?
Zerotuss XP Syrup contains Ambroxol, Levosalbutamol / Levalbuterol, and Guaifenesin. It is used to treat cough with mucus. Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins and loosens phlegm for easier coughing. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that relaxes airway muscles to widen them. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that decreases the stickiness of mucus, making it easier to remove from the airways.
Is Zerotuss XP Syrup safe to use?
Zerotuss XP Syrup is generally safe for most patients. However, some side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, allergic reactions, dizziness, headache, rash, urticaria, tremor, palpitations, muscle cramps, and increased heart rate may occur. If you experience any persistent problems, inform your doctor.
Are there any contraindications for using Zerotuss XP Syrup?
Use of Zerotuss XP Syrup is not recommended for patients with a history of allergies to any ingredient (active or inactive). Also, avoid combining Levosalbutamol and beta-blockers like propranolol.
Can Zerotuss XP Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, some patients experience dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded) after using Zerotuss XP Syrup. If you feel dizzy, rest for a while and resume only when feeling better. Avoid driving or operating machinery.
Can Zerotuss XP Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, some patients experience diarrhea after using Zerotuss XP Syrup. Drinking plenty of water or other fluids can help manage this. If diarrhea persists and you notice signs of dehydration like dark-colored and strong-smelling urine with less urination, consult your doctor. Do not take any other medication without consulting your doctor.
