Yasmin Tablet is a combination of two medicines used for contraception (to prevent pregnancy) and in the treatment of irregular periods. Yasmin Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill. It works by preventing the release of egg (ovulation) and affecting sperm movement in the womb to prevent its union with the egg. It also changes the lining of the womb and renders it unsuitable for pregnancy.

What is Yasmin Tablet and what is it used for?
Yasmin Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive medicine that contains two hormones, estrogen and progesterone. It is primarily used to prevent pregnancy.
How and in what dose should I take Yasmin Tablet?
Take Yasmin Tablet as directed by your doctor. To ensure consistent levels of the medicine in your body, it is recommended to take it at the same time every day.
What if I forget to take Yasmin Tablet?
If you forget to take one tablet, take it as soon as you remember, even if it means taking two tablets at the same time. Then, resume your usual dosing schedule. However, if you forget to take two or more doses, you may not be fully protected against pregnancy. In this case, start taking the tablet as soon as you remember and use a non-hormonal method of contraception, such as condoms, for at least the next 7 days to prevent pregnancy. Frequent missing of doses may lead to unexpected vaginal bleeding or spotting. Consult your doctor if this persists.
What if I vomit after taking Yasmin Tablet?
If you vomit within 3-4 hours after taking Yasmin Tablet, it is considered a missed dose. In this case, take another dose as soon as you feel well enough.
What are the common side effects of taking Yasmin Tablet?
You may experience irregular vaginal bleeding while taking Yasmin Tablet. Other common side effects include headache, nausea, depression, and breast pain. Most of these side effects are temporary, but if they persist, consult with your doctor.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Yasmin Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- Take your pill at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
- You may experience menstrual irregularities such as spotting or bleeding between menstrual periods or missed periods. Consult your doctor if this persists.
- Do not use Yasmin Tablet if you are obese, over 35, smoke, on prolonged bed rest, or have a history of blood clots.
- Stop taking this medicine and inform your doctor immediately if you notice unexplained swelling and pain in your limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain, severe headache, or changes in vision.
- Stop taking Yasmin Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you notice your skin and whites of the eye turning yellow (jaundice), severe stomach pain, severe depression, or if you think you could be pregnant.
Alcohol
Caution is advised when consuming alcohol with Yasmin Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Yasmin Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Yasmin Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
