Oral Suspension
Viloflox-M Oral Suspension is a combination of three active ingredients: ofloxacin, metronidazole, and simethicone. It is used to treat bacterial infections in children, including those of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract. This medicine is also given as an empirical antibiotic for infected diarrhea mixed with blood and serious infections like peritonitis.
Viloflox-M Oral Suspension should be given to children as directed by the doctor. It is important to complete the full course of treatment, even if the child starts to feel better before finishing the medicine.
No common side effects listed
Viloflox-M Oral Suspension is a combination of three active ingredients. The antibiotic ingredients, ofloxacin and metronidazole, interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA. This kills the infection-causing bacteria, preventing its growth and stopping the infection. Simethicone, a gas-absorbing agent, binds with gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem, aiding in the removal of gases and providing relief in stomach pain and bloating.
Diarrhea is a common side effect. Make sure your child drinks plenty of water. Your child may have an altered taste or furry tongue after taking Viloflox-M Oral Suspension. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Viloflox-M Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Never use this medicine for the common cold and flu as they are caused by viruses and Viloflox-M Oral Suspension treats only bacterial infections. Discontinue Viloflox-M Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.
You must inform your child's doctor if they are experiencing any of the following conditions: heart disease, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, or genetic disorders involving blood vessels. This is because Viloflox-M Oral Suspension may interact with these conditions and cause complications.
No, Viloflox-M Oral Suspension should not be given with cough and cold medicines. One ingredient in Viloflox-M Oral Suspension can interact with alcohol-containing medications like cough syrups, potentially leading to a disulfiram reaction, which may cause nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness, etc.
An extra dose of Viloflox-M Oral Suspension is unlikely to be harmful. However, if you believe your child has taken too much, contact their doctor immediately. Overdosing may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headaches, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and irregular heartbeat.
If your child doesn't show improvement after taking Viloflox-M Oral Suspension for the recommended time, their doctor may consider switching to another antibiotic that is more effective against the bacteria causing the infection. In some cases, this stronger antibiotic might need to be administered intravenously (IV) at the hospital.
It's important to inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Viloflox-M Oral Suspension. Additionally, get your doctor's advice before giving your child any medication.
Store Viloflox-M Oral Suspension at room temperature in a dry location away from direct sunlight or heat. To prevent accidental ingestion, keep all medications out of your child's reach and sight.
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions. However, children on antibiotic therapy should not receive vaccinations until they have recovered from the underlying illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
The presence of a reddish-brown hue in urine while on Viloflox-M Oral Suspension is due to the active ingredient metronidazole present in the medication. It is not harmful but often observed as a side effect. This discoloration will typically subside after completing the medication regimen.
