Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR is a combination of two medicines used to treat epilepsy, a neurological disorder in which there are recurrent episodes of seizures or fits. Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR is a combination of two medicines used to treat epilepsy, a neurological disorder in which there are recurrent episodes of seizures or fits. It controls the abnormal activity of the brain, relaxes the nerves and hence, prevents seizures or fits.
Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR is a combination of two antiepileptic medicines: Sodium Valproate and Valproic Acid.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR is to be taken with food.
- Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may increase the seizure frequency.
- Do not take Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR.
Breastfeed
Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Pregnancy
Valporil 200 mg/87 mg Tablet CR is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
