Ursoli SL 300mg Tablet is generally considered to be safe and effective. However, like most medications, it may cause some side effects such as diarrhea. Ursoli SL 300mg Tablet works by impacting the liver and concentrating in bile secreted from the liver. This action inhibits the production of cholesterol by the liver, resulting in lower levels of cholesterol found in bile. It also reduces the absorption of bile salts and cholesterol by the intestines. This reduction in cholesterol saturation in the bile leads to the gradual breakdown of cholesterol from gallstones, resulting in their decreased size and eventual dissolution. It also reduces elevated liver enzyme levels by increasing bile flow through the liver, protecting liver cells.
There is a possibility of some weight gain while taking Ursoli SL 300mg Tablet, however, it's not common. This medication can trigger weight gain in patients with liver diseases associated with chronic bile stasis in the small bile ducts of the liver. In such cases, bile cannot flow efficiently from the liver to the small intestine. Weight gain is variable and may depend on individual condition, so consult your doctor if you notice any weight fluctuations.
When taking Ursoli SL 300mg Tablet, avoid combining it with antacids without consulting your doctor. These medications decrease the effectiveness of Ursoli SL 300mg Tablet. Additionally, avoid using medicines like cholestyramine or colestipol as they can hinder the effectiveness of Ursoli SL 300mg Tablet. It's essential to discuss appropriate timing intervals between these medications and any other prescribed drugs with your doctor. Lastly, avoid taking oral contraceptives, estrogenic hormones, and blood cholesterol-lowering agents such as clofibrate as they may increase the likelihood of developing gallstones and contradict the intended effect.
