Udihep Forte Tablet is a hepatoprotective medication. It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol in the blood and helps dissolve gallbladder stones that are composed mainly of cholesterol. It also improves liver enzymes, protects liver cells from injury caused due to toxic bile acids, and improves liver function.
When should I take Udihep Forte Tablet?
The timing of taking Udihep Forte Tablet may vary depending on your individual condition. Your doctor may recommend taking 2 to 3 doses per day, with the last dose taken at bedtime. It's best to take the tablet with water, milk, and with or after food. For dissolving gallstones, it's usually recommended to take one dose daily at night. Ideally, doses should be spaced 6 hours apart, such as 8 am, 2 pm, and 8 pm. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions for taking this medication.
Is Udihep Forte Tablet safe?
Udihep Forte Tablet is generally considered a safe and effective medication. However, it may cause some common side effects, such as diarrhea. If you experience diarrhea, your doctor may adjust your dosage or discontinue treatment if it persists. Additionally, long-term use of this medication may affect your liver enzyme levels. Your doctor will monitor your liver enzyme levels regularly to ensure your safety. How does Udihep Forte Tablet help the liver?
Udihep Forte Tablet works by concentrating in the bile secreted from the liver, suppressing the synthesis and secretion of cholesterol by the liver, and reducing cholesterol levels in bile. It also prevents the intestines from absorbing bile salts and cholesterol, leading to reduced cholesterol saturation in bile and the gradual dissolution of cholesterol from gallstones. Furthermore, the medication increases bile flow through the liver, protecting liver cells and reducing elevated liver enzyme levels.
Does Udihep Forte Tablet cause weight gain?
Yes, weight gain is a possible side effect of Udihep Forte Tablet, although it is not common. This medication can cause weight gain in patients with liver disease associated with chronic stasis of bile in small bile ducts of the liver. In these cases, bile cannot flow from the liver to the small intestine. The likelihood of weight gain varies from person to person, depending on the underlying disease. If you experience weight gain while taking Udihep Forte Tablet, consult your doctor for guidance.

While taking Udihep Forte Tablet, avoid taking antacid preparations without consulting your doctor, as they can decrease the medication's effectiveness. Ask your doctor about the recommended time gap between taking Udihep Forte Tablet and these medications. Additionally, avoid taking oral contraceptives, estrogenic hormones, and blood cholesterol-lowering agents like clofibrate, as they may increase the risk of developing gallstones and counteract the effects of Udihep Forte Tablet.
