Twochem Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat various types of bacterial infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, infections of the urinary tract, ear, and abdomen. Twochem Syrup is a prescription medicine that is advised to be taken as suggested by the doctor. It should be taken with food and it must be taken at a fixed time to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose as an overdose of it may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The treatment must be completed even if you feel better to ensure a complete recovery.
Twochem Syrup is a combination of two antibiotics: Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim. These antibiotics work by preventing the bacteria from producing folic acid, a nutrient required for bacterial multiplication. Together, they treat your infection effectively.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Twochem Syrup is to be taken with food.
- You have been prescribed Twochem Syrup for the treatment of many types of bacterial infections.
- Finish the prescribed course of Twochem Syrup even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
- Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not stop or if you find blood in your stools.
- Stop taking Twochem Syrup and inform your doctor if you develop skin rash/blisters or other unexplained skin reaction while taking Twochem Syrup.
- In case of long-term use, have regular monthly blood tests to monitor your blood cells as suggested by your doctor.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Twochem Syrup. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Twochem Syrup is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Pregnancy
Twochem Syrup is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
