What bacteria does Tobracid Eye Ointment kill?
Tobracid Eye Ointment is effective against a range of bacteria. It's crucial to use this medication only against susceptible bacteria. The bacteria it can kill include S. Aureus and S. epidermidis, some species of Streptococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis, Morganella morganii, most Proteus vulgaris strains, Haemophilus influenza, and H. aegyptius, Moraxella lacunata, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, and some Neisseria species. Your doctor will evaluate the suitability of this medication for your condition.
How long should I use Tobracid Eye Ointment?
The duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor based on the severity of your eye infection. For mild to moderate infections, your doctor may recommend using Tobracid Eye Ointment 1-2 times daily for a period of time, typically for 1-2 weeks. For severe infections, you may need to use it more frequently - 4 times a day with 2 drops in each application. Do not exceed the prescribed amount or frequency, as instructed by your doctor.
How should I use Tobracid Eye Ointment?
Before using Tobracid Eye Ointment, wash your hands thoroughly. Do not touch the tip of the dropper to your eye or any other surface. Tilt your head slightly and instill one drop into each eye. Close your eyes for 2-3 minutes with your head tilted down, avoid blinking or squinting. Gently press your finger to the inside corner of your eye for about a minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct. If you use more than one drop, wait approximately five minutes between applications. Wait at least 10 minutes before applying any other prescribed eye drops.
